Kollam: Two Kerala legislators have rubbished the media reports that they were eyeing the ministerial berth which has fallen vacant with the unceremonious exit of NCP leaders A K Saseendran and his successor Thomas Chandy.
There were reports that Kerala Congress (B) leader K B Ganesh Kumar, RSP (Leninist)'s Kovoor Kunjumon and CMP's N Vijayan Pillai were in the race for the minister's chair.
Ganesh and Kunjumon termed the reports baseless while Vijayan Pillai has not responded.
Ganesh has reportedly agreed to split his party and join the NCP if he could be inducted into the cabinet. However, his father and party chairman R Balakrishna Pillai has come out against such a move and warned of strict action against those who try to split the party. Ganesh denied making any such move and termed the media reports baseless.
The reports said that even if the party as a whole chooses to merge with the NCP, Pillai may not be in favor of Ganesh becoming a minister as it may cost him the post of the chairman of the Forward Castes Commission that he holds.
The NCP, despite being recognized as a national party, is left without a ministerial berth anywhere in the country after Saseendran and Chandy had to quit following allegations of sleaze talk and land grab respectively.
Kunjumon maintained that he had not discussed any such proposal with the NCP.
A four-time legislator, Kunjumon floated his own party RSP (Leninist) after severing ties with the RSP ahead of the assembly polls last year.
