Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram zoo is celebrating the arrival of its news entrant – a tiger cub. This the first cub to be born at the zoo in the Kerala capital in 10 years.
Curious minds are making a beeline to the cage that houses the stripped little beast, but Ponni, the protective tigress, is not happy to see the crowd. As soon as she notices the presence of two-legged creatures, she roars and snaps at the cage, and moves the little one to the far end of the cage, away from the prying eyes.
The tigress has even kept the zoo officials away from her enclosure. So much so that the officials could not even take a proper look at the cub nor do they know if its a boy or girl.
However, the zoo officials are not complaining, they are just happy to see a healthy cub.
"We're monitoring the cub closely through CCTV cameras installed in the cage. The cub is being fed well and showing active movements," an official told Manorama News.
