 Popular Malayalam comedian Vettoor Purushan dies Purushan, who was born in Vettoor, Thiruvananthapuram, stepped into film world through the 1972 film Nadeenadanmare Aavashyamundu directed by Crossbelt Mani.

Thiruvananthapuram: Popular Malayalam comedian Vettoor Purushan died Saturday night. He was 70.

Purushan was battling age-related ailments for quite sometime. He died on the way to the hospital Saturday night after he complained of heart problems. He had acted in more than 70 films.

Purushan, who was born in Vettoor, Thiruvananthapuram, stepped into film world through the 1972 film Nadeenadanmare Aavashyamundu directed by Crossbelt Mani. He shot to fame through the film Loose Loose Arappiri Loose released in 1988. The short-statured actor later became one of the prominent comedians in Malayalam.

Kavadiyattam, Itha Innu Muthal and Albhutha Dweepu are some of his noted films. He is survived by his wife, Thilaka. He had been residing in Palode, Thiruvananthapuram, for the past few years.
