As the BJP tried to celebrate the arrival of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath in Kerala to attend a protest march, the CPM took to social media to counter the fanfare.
In a sarcastic tweet, the CPM welcomed the UP CM to Kerala and asked him to learn how to run hospitals effectively.
The jibe was a clear reference to the death of hundreds of children in various hospitals in the Yogi-ruled state.
The poor state of the hospitals came to light when 63 children died in a span of 3 days last month at Baba Raghav Das Medical college in Gorakhpur.
CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Wednesday lambasted the BJP rally calling it an attempt to flare up communal tension.
In an apparent dig at the poor state of social development indices in BJP-ruled states, Kodiyeri had the other day said the BJP leaders can enjoy the natural beauty of Kerala while taking part in the rally.
He had also said that the BJP leaders who need to relieve themselves during the foot march can use the toilets of the households along the road. He was referring to the lack of sanitary facilities in many of the states ruled by BJP.
Congress leader Oommen Chandy also flayed the BJP rally saying his party would not stand a mute victim if the BJP attempts to paint Kerala in a bad light.
BJP president Amit Shah launched the 15-day march in Kannur on Tuesday.
