Let me take part in late father's rituals: Dileep makes an emotional appeal to court The actor can now take part in the death anniversary rituals of his father from 7am to 11 am on September 6. Photo: PTI

Kochi: Embattled actor Dileep, who was arrested for allegedly plotting the February 17 actress attack, has been given permission to take part in the death anniversary rituals of his father on September 6.

The judicial first class magistrate court in Angamaly granted him a two-hour break from the jail to take part in his father's remembrance day prayers, despite strong opposition from the prosecution. They said Dileep did not take part in the rituals last year. He was at a different location then, they alleged.

The function would be held at his house and Aluva Manapuram with full security cover. His father passed away in 2008.

Meanwhile, the remand period of the embattled actor Dileep has been extended till September 16.

The Kerala High Court had rejected the bail plea of the actor Dileep for a second time Tuesday. Dismissing the bail petition, the court ruled that the investigation in the case was still progressing and there appeared to be no substantial change in circumstance (since the previous bail plea).

The court reiterated that there was prima facie evidence against the actor. If Dileep is granted bail, he could influence the witnesses, the court observed. The HC had earlier rejected his bail plea in July.

The actor had moved the Kerala HC after the Angamaly court rejected his first bail plea.

The young woman was abducted and assaulted in a moving car in Kochi on the night of February 17. The police had arrested prime accused Pulsar Suni and his accomplices a week after the incident. Pulsar Suni eventually led the probe team to Dileep.

Pulsar Suni had recently revealed that the madam, who allegedly masterminded the crime, was Dileep's wife and actress Kavya Madhavan. Kavya had repeatedly denied having ever known Suni, even after Dileep was arrested for allegedly plotting the attack.
