Concerned parents have taken a sudden interest in their children's activities. What is that their children are doing, bend over their smartphones late into the night? Any injury on the arm or late night visits are being scrutinized - much to the dismay of the irritable teenagers.
But there is this other small set of youngsters too, who are trying to grab some attention in this mele. And one such youth from Perumbavoor gleefully posted a picture of his wounded arm on his Facebook page and had the audacity to claim that he had completed 10 levels of the deadly game. The boy's FB post comes even as the state machinery and rights panel are raking their brains on how to prevent the Blue Whale's reach.
The FB post got scores of likes and suddenly became a talking point, and was even picked up by media. Queries came flooding in and the smile was wiped out of the boy's face. It later emerged that he had injured himself during a game, and was just trying to grab some happy-me time at the expense of the Blue Whale Challenge.
But what that lad from Perumbavoor (and there are sure to be many more) does not realize is that his prank pulls down the collective effort made by the government and the police in curbing the spread of this deadly game.
