Kochi: The 'casting list' looks to be endless with the police questioning veteran actor Siddique in connection with the February 17 actress attack case.

The special investigation team (SIT) probing the case interrogated Siddique as he was a close friend of Dileep, who was arrested on July 10 for plotting the conspiracy to abduct and videotape the harassment of the young actress.

The police reportedly questioned Siddique about a stage show rehearsal in 2013 when Dileep had confronted the actress. Dileep was cross because he believed that the actress had told his then wife Manju Warrier about his affair with Kavya Madhavan. Siddique was also part of the stage show. The SIT asked Siddique about the tiff and those who brokered peace. Investigators wanted to know of the others aware of the incident. Siddique admitted that such a scuffle did happen and that he had tried to pacify both.

Days before his arrest, Dileep had undergone a marathon 13-hour grilling at the police club on June 28. As the interrogation progressed, Siddique turned up at the police club and sought to know why it was taking so long. Siddique had waited late into the night and left only after Dileep was let off in the wee hours of June 29.

The young actress, who had worked in Tamil and Telugu films, was waylaid and assaulted in a moving car in Kochi. The police had arrested Pulsar Suni, who had worked as a driver of many film personalities, six days after the incident. The police are probing if other people from the film industry have any links to the heinous crime.

The cops have already questioned Dileep's wife, Kavya; her mother, singer-anchor Rimi Tomy, and politician-turned-actor Mukesh. All of them have some connection to the accused, but it was not known whether they had any direct links to the crime. Pulsar Suni said he had handed over the memory card that contained the victim's images at Kakkanad office of Laksyah, Kavya's boutique. This information had prompted the cops to question Kavya and her mother.

Mukesh, MLA, came under the police scanner after it emerged that Suni had earlier worked as his driver. Recently, Rimi Tomy was also quizzed as she had been part of many star shows organized by Dileep.
