Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government on Wednesday said it would approach the court against the Center's ban on the sale of cattle for slaughter.
The government has called for a special cabinet meeting on Thursday to discuss the future course of action. It has also been decided to convene a state assembly session.
Meanwhile, various petitions against the Center's ban have been filed with the HC alleging that the central government's order could create communal disharmony. Four of these petitions have been filed by Ernakulam MLA Hibi Eden.
Earlier, minister for local administration K.T. Jaleel said the cabinet would discuss the issue and the state government would consider formulating a new legislation to overcome the ban.
