Kochi: Veteran Malayalam writer N.S. Madhavan on Thursday took a dig at Kerala state police chief Loknath Behera saying the DGP needs a counselling as he suffers from stage fright.
"The DGP, who suffers from stage fright and fear, when he has to meet more than six people should be granted leave and subjected to counselling," Madhavan said in a tweet.
He was responding to the DGP's apparent justification of the police action against Mahija, who was on a protest seeking justice for her deceased son Jishnu Pranoy. The teenager was found dead in Nehru College of Engineering in Thrissur in January.

Mahija and her co-protesters were dragged away by the police from the police headquarters compound where they were staging a sit-in seeking arrest of the accused. After the police action drew flak, the DGP said he was willing to meet six of the protesters, but they wanted 15 people to be allowed to talk to him.
Madhavan also shared a photo of a wailing Mahija saying it was not the mother of Najeeb, a missing JNU student.
"This happened in Kerala where Radhika Vemula (mother of late dalit PhD scholar Rohith Vemula) was honored with a red garland. This picture breaks the heart of the common man," he said.
