I view the fact that Kerala Blasters has entirely regained its confidence as the game’s biggest highlight of their first home match against FC Goa.
The goal scored by Blasters was magnificent. The pass from Andrew Barisic had literally bombarded the Goan goalie. All that Milagers Gonsalves needed from there was a gentle tapping of it into the net.
Sushanth Mathew got a similar opportunity at the last minute. If he had taken advantage of it, Sushanth would have been the star of the day.
Misfortune it was that C.S. Sabeeth’s shot hit the crossbar. This is common in the game. Balls which normally are flying elsewhere at times find their way to the goal. It all depends on the given day.
Also noteworthy is Blasters enjoying huge home support. I am reminded of the time I played for FC Kochi at this ground. I have reservations about choosing Milagers Gonsalves as the best player merely on the strength of a goal scored.
Stephen Pierson it was who toiled even more and became crucial in facilitating the Blasters' win on Thursday.
