Thrissur: Even though the hotels and restaurants in Kerala are slowly opening as the lockdown is being lifted in phases, many are still hesitant to eat at the hotels. The Kudumbasree mission, meanwhile, has started the 'Annasree' mobile application for online food delivery, in an experimental model. You could enjoy the traditional lunch or the special chicken or mutton items prepared by the various Kudumbasree units at your home.
Though the service is currently applicable only in the corporation area, it would soon be extended all over the district. The food would be supplied from the various Kudumbasree hotels and home catering services. The customers can also order pickles and curry powders prepared by Kudumbasree through this app.
The entrepreneurs would be trained in preparing, packing, and distributing the food. The district coordinator K V Jyothish Kumar said that the mission aims to create more job opportunities in the food packing and distributing sectors. When this service is extended all over the district, at least 5 persons in a panchayat would be employed. The customers can download the Annasree application from the Playstore.
