Talking about the movie, Mohanlal posted a video on his Facebook page on why he chose to do the movie Villain.

“Villain has hit the screens and I thank all for accepting the movie. Many have called Villain as a dark emotional thriller and we too meant to present it in that aspect. The movie is slow paced in approach. This is in fact one film for all those who wish to take cinema in an academic mode.
With an emotional background as its highlight, we hope family audiences will like it. Many a time we had long discussions over the movie. It’s the characterization in Villain that gave me much satisfaction in doing the film”, he said.
