It's been a month since actor Dileep was arrested in the February 17 actress attack case, and his family and fans remain concerned about the embattled star. The Kerala police arrested the 48-year-old actor on July 10 for plotting the abduction and assault of the actress. Both Dileep and his family have time and again reiterated that the actor had no role in the heinous crime.
“Chetaa... the truth is with me and it will come out one day. I am having a bad time right now. I am innocent and I have been sent to jail for the crime I have not committed. I have a daughter and I can never do such a thing,” was what Dileep told producer Suresh Kumar.
For the past few months, the Malayalam film industry has been witnessing several twists and turns with many of its personalities questioned in connection with the case.
The very next day of the arrest, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) had an executive meeting and took a collective decision to expel Dileep from the association. Dileep held the post of the treasurer of AMMA before his expulsion.

In yet another setback, Dileep was also expelled from Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) which was actually founded by Dileep and a group of 64 theater owners.
Dileep's movies stalled
Meanwhile, three major movies of Dileep - Ramaleela, Kammarasambhavam and Prof Dinkan - were left midway. Although Ramaleela was initially set to hit the screens on July 11, the movie was postponed indefinetly.
Dileep’s family had something to cheer about after the High Court ordered the reopening of D Cinemaas - a theater owned by the actor in Thrissur's Chalakkudy, His relatives hope that the actor will be send home soon.

Dileep's counsel had earlier alleged that the probe team had no concrete evidence against the star. The question that remains is will Dileep be able to go home finally? And if proven innocent, would he be able to file a case of defamation against the State for needlessly putting him behind the bars?
