Kochi: The arrest of actor Dileep has put in limbo a couple of big-budget movies he had committed to. The producers are keenly watching the twists and turns in the investigation into the attack on an actress which landed the leading actor in jail.
Dileep was arrested on Monday on charges of plotting the attack on a fellow actress on a highway near Angamaly on February 17. The police have accused him of hiring a group of goons to waylay the actress and videotape her suffering.
Though Dileep was under a shadow of doubt ever since the news broke out, the arrest came barely two weeks before the release of his latest flick, 'Ramaleela'. The producer of the movie is likely to delay the release in view of the popular rage against the actor.

Dileep was booed by large crowds whenever he was taken out of the jail for the collection of evidence. Social media trolls had been at his throat ever since his name started cropping up in relation to the case.
Members of the Film Exhibitors United Organization of Kerala, however, have decided to screen the movie in the theaters owned by them. The association, started by Dileep a few months ago in a bid to strengthen his grip on the industry, ousted him as president on Tuesday.
The arrest threatens to derail ongoing projects such as ‘Kammarasambhavam’ and ‘Professor Dinkan’. The Film Producers Association will discuss the future of these movies the next time the members meet up, association secretary M. Ranjith said. Association president G. Suresh Kumar was also present.
Kammara Sambhavam, produced by Gokulam Gopalan, is the directorial debut of Rathish Ambat. The works on the project had already started.
Professor Dinkan was to be directed by ace cinematographer Ramachandra Babu.
A meeting of the association saw almost all producers standing up for the actress. Saji Nandiyatt had to apologize in the meeting for a derogatory comment he made against the actress during a television debate.
The association passed a resolution offering their full support to the actress and demanding stern action against the culprits.
