Pothenkodu: Assam native Faurinisa, 21, wife of Thaju, also a labourer, living in a rented house at Pothenkodu, gave birth to a girl on a 108 ambulance.
Both the woman and the child were admitted to the government hospital, Nedumangadu.
Faurinisa was due for delivery only after a month but she developed labour pain. Thaju, as advised by their neighbours, called in a 108 ambulance.
The ambulance arrived in 15 minutes and took in Faurinisa. As the vehicle reached Chathanpadu, she went into labour and emergency medical technician Renjith asked driver Manikandan to pull over. Renjith helped Faurinisa deliver of the baby.
