Image for representation onlyPalakkad: The driver and conductor of a state-run transport bus turned Good Samaritans during a night drive. Three young men involved in a road accident were taken to hospital by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus which was on its way from Pollachi to Palakkad.
The accident victims were profusely bleeding when the bus reached the Government Polytechnic College at Marutha Road. Their motorbikes had collided with each other.
Though the people in the area had gathered around the victims they could not arrange for a vehicle to take the seriously hurt men to the hospital. The vehicles that passed along the road refused to stop.
Bus driver M Sivadas and conductor C Devdas offered to carry them to a hospital. Even the passengers in the bus stood by them. Devdas called up the district hospital to inform them about the accident as Sivadas drove them to the hospital.
The bus went inside the hospital compound to drop the injured men. The hospital staff were ready to receive them. One of the victims, Shiju Viswanathan, aged 36, was referred to the Thrissur Government Medical College Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries later. His friend Ganesh, aged 34, and the rider of the other motorcycle are recovering.
The bus employees belong to the Palakkad depot. Devdas is from Kottayi and Sivadas from Mathoor.

Their counterparts in Kollam created news last week when they waited at the bus station in the early hours for a woman passenger’s brother to pick her. The passenger’s thank-you note had gone viral on social media.
