Thiruvananthapuram: In what could be hailed as a stroke of business wisdom, the Kerala government today resolved to constitute an expert committee to conduct a feasibility study on setting up a rubber factory under PPP model with an objective to safe guard the interest of rubber growers in the state by ensuring better price for natural rubber.

A decision in this regard was taken at a high level meeting chaired by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, an official release said here.

It was envisaged to have the company on the similar lines of 'Cochin International Airport Ltd, that manages the Kochi International Airport and is considered as a successful Public Private Partnership venture in the state.

The committee will also study the possibility of forming co-operatives of rubber growers in the lines of AMUL.

Chief secretary K M Abraham has been entrusted with the constitution of the committee by roping in experts.
