Kannur: The new passenger train operated between Kannur and Shorannur, which is one of the busiest routes, has been extended for three more months. The railway has released an official statement, extending the service until October 31. Moreover, the train has been allowed a new stop at Payyoli. The Shorannur - Kannur passenger (06031) was initially introduced as a temporary train from July 2 – 31. This will now operate until October 30 while the Kannur – Shorannur train (06032) will run until October 31.

Meanwhile, there is no change in the schedule of the trains. It will operate services to Kannur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and to Shorannur on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. However, the demands to extend the train up to Kasargod and allow six services in a week weren’t considered by the railway. Rajmohan Unnithan MP and Dr V Sivadasan MP had written to the Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav regarding this.
