I never knew I had these many expressions until trollers started using them, said actor Sailm Kumar to Onmanorama. “Most trolls on social and political issues nowadays carry memes with my face. I am thankful to the troll sites for the support they offer,” he added.
The actor, who had been inactive for more than three years due to bad health, said he never felt a gap due to the troll pages. “I was everywhere on social media. Nobody noticed the gap in my career. I am really happy to watch the sincere love and support I receive as an artist; that too, from people who are utter strangers to me. They do it without any profit motive,” he said.
An actor born from Kalolsavam venues, Salim Kumar expressed his concern over the increasing number of appeals at school Kalolsavam every year. “I have bagged first prize for mimicry competition for three consecutive years at the Kalolavam. I have failed at many venues. I never got heartbroken with the failures because I knew the mindset and criteria of one jury panel will be much different from another. No winner is perfect,” said the award-winning actor.
Kumar added that the court of law is not the place to prove artistic talents. “There is no point in proving your talent before a court of law through appeals. You should do it on stage through performances. If the appeals are flooding in like this, a special court will have to be set up to deal with them,” he said. He also urged the Kalolsavam participants to stop appealing against the results. “Your talent will receive the right acceptance in the right time. No one can beat you in your life,” he said.
Currently, Kumar has three movies in the offing viz., 'Karutha Joothan', 'Ram Leela' and 'Dubaikkaran'. Karutha Joothan is scripted, directed, produced and promoted all by himself. “That is one ambitious project of mine. I have invested a lot of hope and energy in Karutha Joothan,” he said. Dileep starrer Ram Leela's production is on progress now.
