Kannur: The Thalassery Sessions Court rejected CPM Kannur district secretary P. Jayarajan's anticipatory bail plea in the Kathiroor Manoj murder case on Saturday.
This is the third successive time that Jayarjan's bail plea has been rejected. He was recently named as the 25th accused in the case.
Jayarajan's counsel argued that there is precedence for granting anticipatory bail for an accused slapped with UAPA in the case.
The CBI, which is probing the case, had contented that granting bail to Jayarajan would adversely impact the investigation.
RSS leader E Manoj, 42, was hacked to death at Kathiroor in Kannur on September 1, 2014.
The assailants had hurled a bomb at the vehicle, pulled him out and hacked him to death.
Manoj, Kannur district sharirik shikshan pramukh, was an accused in a case pertaining to the murder attempt on P. Jayarajan in 1999.
