Dr Joseph KalathiparambilKochi: Dr Joseph Kalathiparambil has been anointed as the new archbishop of Roman Catholic (Latin Rite) Archdiocese of Verapoly (Varapuzha).
The anointment ceremony was held at Basilica of Our Lady of Ransom, Vallarpadam.
His predecessor Dr. Francis Kallarackal handed over the sceptre to the new archbishop in the presence of thousands of believers.
Cardinal Moran Mar George Alencherry, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church; Cardinal Baselios Cleemis, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church; Thiruvananthapuram Archbishop Soosa Pakiam and others attended the ceremony.
