Kochi: The police have filed a case against suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba operative Thadiyantavide Nazeer for sending an e-mail containing new terror plots to a friend abroad.
Nazeer sought the help of an aide, Shahanaz, while Nazeer was lodged in a jail in Bengaluru. Nazeer is a convict in the Kozhikode twin blasts case and is currently lodged in a Bengaluru jail in connection with the trial of Bangaluru blasts case.
The police had recovered the letter Nazeer had handed over to Shahanaz, in which the former gave instructions to plot new terror strikes for e-mailing. The police had briefed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) about the incident. The case was filed in consultation with the NIA.
Shahanaz was arrested in November last year from the Ernakulam North railway station premises while attempting to meet Nazeer, who was being taken to Bengaluru. Shahanaz had also spoken to Nazeer, while the latter was being produced in the court. Shahanaz had been functioning as a conduit of Nazeer to pass on his messages.
