Father trying to take me out of Kevin's house, says Neenu Kevin's relatives had alleged that he was tortured and killed two days after he and his fiancee Neenu filed a joint application for marriage registration at a sub-registrar office.

Kottayam: A Kerala woman, whose fiance Kevin Joseph was brutally murdered by a gang allegedly on the instructions of her family, is adamant that she will not go back to her home. She claimed that she had to bear cruel treatment at the hands of her father.

"I have experienced brutal physical assault and mental torment at my own home right from my childhood," Neenu Chacko told Manorama News on Thursday.

"It was only after Kevin came into my life that I had someone to share my ordeal with," she said.

The 20-year-old college student had been living at the house of Kevin after he was abducted and killed on May 28 by the 13-member gang. Her father Chacko, arrested for his alleged role in the suspected case of honour killing, had moved the court seeking her custody. "The claims made by my father in his petition at the High Court are fabricated," Neenu said.

She said her father has a hidden agenda in alleging that she was mentally ill. "He is making the allegation in a bid to take me out of Kevin's house. I will stay here as long as Kevin's parents allow. I will never accept the protection of people who took Kevin's life."

She said her mother Rehna Beegum too had a role in the plot to eliminate Kevin. “I will not go back to my house,” she asserted. "I will complete my studies staying at Kevin's house."

Neenu said she had been taken for counselling once.

Kevin was abducted on May 27 from Kottayam by the gang led by Neenu's brother. Kevin's body was recovered from a stream in Kollam district the next day.

Kevin's relatives had alleged that he was tortured and killed two days after he and his fiancee filed a joint application for marriage registration at a sub-registrar office near here.
