Kollam: A scuffle happened between the workers of the Congress and CPM near the Chaliyakkara stream, near Thenmala, where the dead body of Kevin P Joseph, a native of Kottayam who was reportedly abducted and killed by his wife’s family, was found. This happened after the Congress workers demanded that the inquest of Kevin’s body should be conducted by the RDO or the Magistrate.
The CPM alleged that the Congress has been trying to take political advantage of Kevin's murder. While the leaders were engaged in a war of words, the corpse lay unattended in the rain.
The Youth Congress and KSU leaders arrived and began their protest immediately after Kevin's dead body was found in the stream. Their leaders said that they did not trust the police and that the inquest should be done in the presence of the RDO or the magistrate.
Meanwhile, Kollam rural SP Asokan visited the place where the corpse was found. He said further proceedings will take place as per the law. Later the tahasildar reached the spot to conduct the inquest following an instruction from the RDO.
The body was later shifted to Kottayam medical college for postmortem.
