Kochi: The Keralite woman, Nimisha, lodged in a Yemeni jail for murdering a local man, carried out the crime in desperation, asserts her mother Prema.
“The Yemeni citizen subjected my daughter to inhuman cruelty. She killed him to escape from the torture. I do not believe it was a planned murder,” Prema told Manorama News.
“The last time Nimisha contacted me over phone was eight months ago. After was arrested, my daughter called me several times. Nimisha told me everything about the torture and her desperate act,” said her mother after Nimisha was arrested.
“Nimisha became close to the Yemeni citizen hoping to open her own clinic. However, he cheated her financially,” said Prema, adding that she had no idea whether Nimisha had married the Yemeni man.
Nimisha had good relations with her husband Tomy and daughter and used to contact them over phone even from jail, according to Prema.
The family is seeking urgent government intervention to secure Nimisha's release and Prema is praying earnestly for the return of her daughter.
