Kodiyeri’s sons settle cases out of court. But on what terms? Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's sons - Binoy, Bineesh

Dubai: The cases against the sons of CPM Kerala state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in Dubai have been settled, just in time before the party state conference began in Thrissur on Thursday.

Travel restrictions imposed on Kodiyeri’s elder son, Binoy, were lifted after the case against him was resolved out of court. His younger son, Bineesh, was in Dubai recently, suggesting that a case against him had also been dropped. The terms of the settlements were unknown.

The travel ban on Binoy were imposed after a civil case was filed against him in connection with the bounced cheque for 1 million Dirhams.

It was lifted after the complainant in the case, JAAS Tourism LLC, filed an application about the settlement of the case.

JAAS Tourism LLC had filed yet another case in Dubai on February 7. A local court is to consider the case on February 25, but it is likely to be dropped when the lawyers inform the court about the settlement.

The case became known after JAAS Tourism LLC,owner and UAE national Hasan Ismaeel Abdulla al-Marzooqi approached CPM central leaders in India, seeking help to recover Rs 13 crore, including legal cost, that he claimed Binoy owed him.

Later, while the issue was heading to a settlement, al-Marzooqi told Kirali TV that such cheque-return cases were quite common in Dubai and that there was no need for it to become a controversy.

In Bineesh’s case, a court had in December sentenced him for two months in jail for defaulting on a bank loan. While he could have been arrested on entering UAE, Bineesh apparently traveled to Dubai after settling the case and court procedures while he was in India.
