Now, Ganesh Kumar linked to woman who filed petition against Saseendran

Thiruvananthapuram: A major rift is brewing within the NCP and the LDF over the alleged conspiracy behind the petition filed in the High Court by a woman named Mahalakshmi, challenging the acquittal of transport minister A K Saseendran in the sleaze talk case.

The government had earlier argued in the court that the address given by the petitioner was fake.

There were questions how an ordinary housewife like her could hire senior advocates to appear for her in the court. It is alleged that some influential persons were pulling the strings from behind the curtain.

There were reports that the woman in question was a domestic help of B V Sreekumar, the personal assistant of NCP leader Thomas Chandy, who succeeded Saseendran as transport minister before being forced to quit for having allegedly violated land-related laws.

Meanwhile, another conspiracy theory linking the woman with Kerala Congress (B) leader and former minister K B Ganesh Kumar has emerged. There were reports that the NCP had explored the possibility of proposing him for Cabinet berth in party's quota after both its MLAs were made to quit.

Those pointed fingers at Ganesh Kumar alleged that Mahalakshmi’s counsel was the same lawyer who appeared for his father R Balakrishna Pillai in the Idamalayar corruption case.

Following the latest revelations, NCP state executive member Pradeep Parappuram lodged a complaint against Ganesh Kumar with the chief minister and the DGP.

The allegation against the MLA is nothing but a shocking shame on the society, the petition said, seeking a probe into the political-bureaucratic conspiracy behind the scandalous move.

The petitioner also stated that by examining the phone records of Ganesh Kumar MLA, government counsel, and an Ernakulam-based politician who is an accused in many cases, the mystery could be unraveled.

Chandy had no role’

Dismissing the reports of Thomas Chandy’s involvement in filing the petition challenging his acquittal in the sleaze talk case, transport minister A K Saseendran said he does not believe Chandy had any role in it.

“Nobody in the NCP is against my re-induction into the ministry. I will not seek an investigation in the matter unless I'm fully convinced of any such conspiracy. I learned about the complainant through media reports, so I don’t want to raise allegations against anybody. Let the court decide,” he said.
