Thiruvananthapuram: After a long-awaited refurbishment, the Venad Express will have new coaches fitted with modern facilities from this week onwards. The coaches will have bio-toilets as well as GPS facility that will give information about current and upcoming stations. Bucket seats for more comfortable travel have also been installed.
The final round of security checks on the new coaches are being conducted at the Kochuveli station. The Chennai based Integral Coach Factory has built these coaches. A total of 24 coaches, including 3 AC coaches are there on the train.
Major Highlights:
• Grey colored coaches with streaks of red and blue.
• Center Buffer Coupling (CBC) for safety.
• LED boards displaying train number, name and stations.
• Vinyl flooring with mosaic patterns.
• Foldable curtains on the windows of the AC coaches.
• Newly designed wash basins that are more user friendly.
• LED lights, modular switch boards, laptop and mobile charging points.
