Kochi: Metroman E Sreedharan has criticized the ongoing construction of the Vyttila flyover, stating that the current design will not alleviate the traffic jam at the junction. He also said that the construction of this flyover should not have been done by the state government.
Sreedharan, the principal advisor to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, said that the contract should have been awarded to the National Highway Authority. The proposal he had submitted was not considered. He says he is hopeful that the government agencies will consider the ideas for future development.
Allegations were raised from various quarters against the 'unscientific construction' process at the Vyttila flyover and on whether it would actually serve any purpose.
Sreedharan also praised Shameer Abdullah, a young engineer from Kochi who pointed out flaws in project plans for the flyover and put forth an innovative proposal.
