Kochi: The woman, who filed a molestation case against Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan, on Saturday sought police protection alleging that the actor has been tying to tarnish her reputation. Her counsel said the actor has made her images and name public in order to destroy her reputation, which is illegal for a victim of sexual molestation.
Following this, the Ernakulam First Class Judicial Magistrate Court has asked the complainant to file the reasons behind seeking police cover. When her advocate told the court that she could not present herself before it as she received threats, the court observed that it cannot provide police protection for all the petitioners. The court has also asked the woman to appear before the court on January 27.
The woman has also said that Unni Mukundan should not be granted bail.
Unni Mukundan, however, said that the woman has been blackmailing him for money, threatening that she would file a sexual abuse case against him.
According to the woman, Unni Mukundan sexually molested her when she visited his house on August 23 last year to narrate a script. The woman filed a case with the court on September 15, while Unni Mukundan too lodged a case, saying that the woman was blackmailing him and demanded Rs 25 lakh.
According to the actor's plaint, the woman wanted to read out the screenplay to him in August. However, the actor told her that he was ready to give her an appointment if she has the full script ready. The woman again met the actor on August 23 at his rented house at Edapally. But Unni Mukundan reportedly refused to give her an appointment as she had not completed the script. Later, the woman allegedly called him and asked him whether he would act in films only after hearing the script. She also threatened him that she would file a rape case against him.
The actor alleged in his petition that a man, who introduced himself as an advocate, called him as per the instructions of the woman. The so-called lawyer demanded that the actor should either marry the woman, give her Rs 25 lakh or a car worth Rs 20 lakh.
The actor first filed the case at Ottappalam and it was later shifted to Cheranelloor police station. Based on the complaint, a case had been registered under Sections 385, 506 and 34 of the IPC.
