Bengaluru: Hero can help you with your shopping. He can wait at your dining table. He can even be trusted with room service or hospital management.
Hero (Humanoid Intended for Robotic Operations) made his debut at the Autodesk University India & SAARC business convention in Bengaluru on Thursday. The robot was developed by Kochi-based startup Robo Inventions. The invention will hit the market next month.
Hero is unique because he can converse with humans, said company managing director Pratheesh Prakash and directors Arun Joy Chittilappally and Puneeth Melwani. The humanoid can even answer questions that run into three or four questions.
The humanoid can be linked to any software used in the hospitality and healthcare sectors. It can handle objects that weigh up to 120 kilograms. The startup developed the robot using the facilities offered by the Kerala Startup Mission at Kalamassery.
The robot was one of the prime attractions of the expo inaugurated by Union industries minister Suresh Prabhu through video conferencing. Designs from the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad and the Pennsylvania University are also on display.
Autodesk India & SAARC managing director Pradeep Nair declared the winners of a design challenge organized by the NID and Maruti Suzuki.
Akhilesh Manchandani and S Aravind led their team to the top slot by designing an electric compact SUV.
