Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Abi dies Abi had acted in over 50 Malayalam films

Kochi: Popular Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Abhi died on Thursday. He was 52.

He was undergoing treatment after his blood platelet count came down drastically. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Kochi.

Abi, whose original name is Habeeb Ahmad, had acted in more than 50 films.

Mammootty-starrer Nayam Vyakthamakkunnu that released in 1991 was his first film. His most noted performance would be 'Aminathaata' of Kireedamillatha Rajakkanmar.

Some of his other popular movies are: Mazhavil Koodaram, Mimics Action 500, Aniyathipraavu and Rasikan. Happy Wedding that released in 2016 was his last movie

A popular mimicry artist, Abi had worked with Kalabhavan, Harisree and Cochin Sagar troupes. He had twice bagged the first prize in mimicry competitions at Mahatma Gandhi University youth festival.

Known for even imitating the Hindi actors, Abi also gave voice for Amitabh Bachchan's ads in Malayalam.

He is survived by wife Sunila, and children Ahana and Aleena. Upcoming actor Shane Nigam is his son.
