Studio Homosapiens, Ernakulam, has won the architectural design competition conducted by Kochi Metro Rail Limited for the upcoming ferry terminals of Kochi Water Metro project at Fort Kochi and Vyttila.
A committee chaired by the Padmashree awardee and eminent architect G Shankar selected the winners.
PSP Design, Chennai, got the second prize. Out of the total submissions of 33 designs for Vytilla and 31 for Fort Kochi, 6 and 5 entries were shortlisted. The shortlisted participants were requested to present their entries to the selection committee chaired by Shankar. The selection committee also had Thiruman Archunan (director projects, KMRL), Bijimon Punnose, general manager (water transport), Rekha Prakash, general manager (planning & design) and two other senior officials of the KMRL.
The 1st prize winner walks away with Rs 50,000, while the runner-up will get Rs 25,000. All the short-listed designs would also get a consolation prize of Rs 5,000 each.
