Thrissur: A real estate broker was found murdered at Pariyaram near Chalakudy on Friday.
Rajeev, 43, a native of Angamaly, was found smothered to death inside an abandoned building. The police were investigating a missing case filed by the deceased's son.
The police took three people, who told the cops that a prominent lawyer in Kochi was behind the crime, into custody.
It is suspected that dispute over a real estate deal led to the murder. Rajeev was to repay the amount he had received from the perpetrator of the crime as advance for a real estate deal.
The murder came to light as Raju, a local, inadvertently ventured into the building, where the crime took place, on Friday.
He checked in to the house upon hearing noses of people from the deserted building. Raju saw there a man in an inebriated state. He shouted at Raju and drove him away.
The police came searched the house after they came to know about the incident.
