Did celebs' visit to Aluva jail block out Dileep's bail chances? Dileep had moved the Kerala High Court and Angamaly court twice, but failed to get any relief. Manorama

Kochi: Embattled actor Dileep, who was arrested for allegedly plotting the February 17 actress attack, failed to get a reprieve from the court for the fourth consecutive time Monday. He had moved the Kerala High Court and Angamaly court twice, but failed to get any relief.

Each time the court rejected his bail plea, it reiterated that granting bail was not possible as the probe was in the final stage and key evidence including the mobile phone, allegedly used to film the heinous crime, was yet to be recovered.

However, the prosecution added one more arrow to their quiver when they contested Dileep's fourth bail plea at the Angamaly court Saturday.

The prosecution had repeatedly said that the popular actor was an influential person. And the host of film personalities who made a beeline to visit the actor at the Aluva sub jail over the past few weeks automatically backed the prosecution's arguments that Dileep was indeed an influential person.

From actor-turned-politician Ganesh Kumar to veteran actress KPAC Lalitha, many prominent faces from the industry had visited Dileep at the jail. Ganesh had even invited the wrath of the cops when he made pro-Dileep statements.

The prosecution contented that Dileep, who has been jailed in Aluva since his arrest on July 10, still wielded considerable clout over the film personalities and their visit was testimony to this.

Dileep was arrested by the police for allegedly hiring goons to assault the actress and videotape the incident. The young actress was waylaid and assaulted in a moving car for hours on the night of February 17 in Kochi. The police had arrested Pulsar Suni, who had worked as a driver of many film personalities, six days after the incident.
