Thiruvananthapuram: Sree Krishna Jayanti was celebrated across Kerala on Tuesday with special poojas being conducted in temples, that witnessed a heavy rush of devotees.
A colorful procession was held as part of the 'maha shobha yatra' by the Bala Gokulam in various parts of the state.
Children dressed as Krishna and Radha lined up streets as part of the procession.
Decked in glittering robes and ornate headgear, they depicted various stages of Krishna's life.
Floats of Krishna idols and folk art forms were also taken out.
In politically sensitive Kannur district, the Shoba yatra of Bala Gokulam and cultural procession organized by the CPM under the program 'Mahatjanmangale Mathrukayakkuka' also passed off without any incident.
The police had made elaborate arrangements in Kannur as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incidents as the district had witnessed a series of clashes between the ruling CPM and RSS-BJP cadres in recent times.
