Kochi: Three youths, part of a four-member team, drowned in a pond formed in a quarry at Pettamala, near Kuruppampadi, Perumbavoor, on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Vinayak, 19, Sravan, 18, and Abhijith, 19. All the three hailed from Kalamassery and were relatives.
The accident occurred as one of them slipped down to the pond and others tried to rescue him. Only one of them could swim to safety.
Bodies of all the three deceased have been retrieved. They arrived at the quarry on two bikes. Several dysfunctional quarries have been filled with water in the area.
