rishi-uk-accident-victim Rishi, a native of Kottayam, who died in a road accident in UK.

Kottayam: “Going for a trip to Europe, may not get me on phone for a couple of days,” Rishi Rajeev told his mother and sister back home before hanging up his phone the other day. What they heard after that was a fatal accident had claimed the young man at Nottingham, UK. The family and relatives of Rishi are yet to come to terms with the news fully.

The family of the 28-year-old techie is devastated by the news of his death in the road accident which claimed the lives of eight Indians. The young professional was the only hope of his family.

Rishi is a native of Irumbappuzha near Chandanikkad at Chingavanam in Kottayam district.

Rishi was a bright student. Wipro picked him up in a campus selection at the IHRD College at Payyappadi in Kottayam. He came out successful in his first attempt itself. The job gave him confidence that he could fulfill the aspirations of his family.

Rishi's first posting was in Hyderabad, but he was shifted to Bengaluru later. He went to Britain in February as part of an official project. There, the hard-working young man joined a four-year course in the British University.

Rishi had saved money for the wedding of his sister, which was one of his long cherished dreams. He had also started searching for prospective suitors for her. But death snuffed out all those dreams.

The bank holiday weekend was too tempting. Rishi and his friends from Wipro decided to take a trip to Europe. But the happy tour had a tragic end.

Hearing about the accident, Keralites from Nottingham and nearby areas rushed to the hospital and confirmed the death of Benny who drove the vehicle. But it took a few more hours to realize that another Keralite had also lost his life in the accident.

The procedures to bring the dead bodies back home will start only Monday as the Indian Embassy was also closed on Sunday.

Eight Indians had died in the accident which took place in the busy M-1 motorway of Britain in the wee hours of Saturday. Apart from Rishi and Benny, six Tamil Nadu natives lost their lives in the accident involving two trucks and a minivan. The deceased include engineers from Wipro and their family members.
