Kochi: The Ernakulam sessions court Friday granted a conditional anticipatory bail to director Jean Paul Lal and three others, who were booked for allegedly making lewd comments at an actress and refusing remuneration.
The case was registered against Jean Paul Lal, son of actor-director Lal, actor Sreenath Bhasi, and film technicians Anoop and Anirudh.
The woman had complained that she was cheated of the remuneration for acting in Jean Paul's Honey Bee 2 and that the makers made lewd comments when she met the aforementioned in a hotel room. The woman had also alleged that the filmmakers used her body double in the movie without her permission.
Though the woman later said that the issue was settled, the police said the charges other than that concerning refusal of remuneration cannot be settled out-of-court citing a bad precedent.
The four were booked under IPC sections 354(A) (making sexually colored remarks) and 420 (cheating).
