Theater complex D-Cinemas at Chalakkudy is owned by actor Dileep. Government departments are examining encroachment allegations against Dileep

Kochi: The State Land Board has reportedly found that actor Dileep has violated the Land Reforms Act. Investigations have revealed that Dileep and his family owned about 21.67 acres across five districts in the state. As per the law, one family is allowed to own only 15 acres of land.

The Land Board secretary has reportedly sought a report on the issue from the revenue, registration and survey departments.

On Thursday, officials had initiated the preliminary procedures to resurvey the two-acre plot owned by Dileep in Karumalloor gram panchayat. This was following allegations of encroachment on around 30 cents 'poramboke' land adjacent to his plot that lies along the Periyar river. The report on the same will be submitted to the Paravoor Tehsildar in two days.

Meanwhile, the DYFI workers destroyed a portion of the wall in the alleged encroached property.  The 2.5 acres of land, which is registered in Dileep's name, is located at Kunnukara Karakkathuruthu and is categorized as ‘Nilam’ (paddy land) in revenue records.

The officials have also resurveyed the land where Dileep's multiplex D-Cinemaas is situated. However, they refused to divulge any survey findings saying that the report will be submitted to the district collector within two days. The officials also added that the final decision will rest with the government, which will look into the report from the collector.
