T.P. Senkumar (file photo)Thiruvananthapuram: Senior advocate Dushyant Dave, who represented former Kerala police chief T.P. Senkumar in the Supreme Court, has come up with vehement criticism of the former DGP over the latter's alleged political stand.
"I am pained and deeply regret Senkumar's comments favoring the Sangh Parivar. Had I known his stand earlier, I would have never appeared for him in the court," Dave, who had argued to reinstate Senkumar as the Kerala police chief after a forced exit, said.
“I thought Senkumar was an officer who stood above politics and functioned freely. I also doubted that the LDF government removed him from the post owing to this. That is why I appeared for him. I argued for him without taking any fee as I thought it was a fight for justice. But only now I understood that he was a person who had a political leaning,” Dave said.
Senkumar's comments, in an interview to a magazine, that the terrorist outfit IS (Islamic State) and RSS had no similarity had recently created ripples in the political circles. He had also said that Love Jihad was prevalent in Kerala and that the number of Hindus was getting diminished.
Meanwhile, BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan came under the spotlight by inviting T.P. Senkumar to the BJP. "The arrival of people like Senkumar will strengthen the party, Now, it's for him to decide on whether he should come to the fold or not," Kummanam had said.
Amid rumors over Senkumar's entry into the BJP, party's state general secretary M.T. Ramesh called on the former DGP at his residence on Monday. However, Ramesh categorically maintained that the visit was a cordial one and that he had not invited the former police chief to the party.
