Actress assault case: the conspiracy theories cops are looking into Vishnu and Pulsar Suni. File photo

Kochi: The police team probing the actress assault case claims to have obtained some clues after they started interrogating the suspects together. The current probe is proceeding in two parts. Police have reached a conclusion that there were two conspiracies in the case.

Plot 1: Before the crime

One is the conspiracy behind the kidnap and assault of the young actress before the February 17 crime.

Partners in the crime are: a kingpin in the plot who assigned the accused a 'quotation' to film the visuals of the assault on the actress; the man who carried out the plot, Sunil Kumar alias Pulsar Suni; Martin, the driver of a film director's vehicle in which the actress was traveling; and the thugs brought along by Sunil.

Second plot: In the prison

The second conspiracy took place in the jail after the accused were remanded. Partners in crime are Suni, Vishnu and other co-prisoners.

Police think Suni's phone calls were a bid to suppress the first conspiracy, the one to attack the actress. Co-prisoner Jinson's testimony justifies it.

Police are also looking at the accusation raised by actor Dileep that the phone calls were made to blackmail him. The probe team is trying to ascertain which of the two possibilities are really linked to the second conspiracy.

Police are also probing the second part whether Suni has filmed the assault on the actress and tried to conceal it.

The team headed by inspector general Dinendra Kashyap has collected evidence regarding the second conspiracy.

Missing links

However, they face a challenge in not being able to connect clues available about the first conspiracy. Chances for further arrests are hindered by the fact that scientific proof is not available even on matters that the probe team is convinced about.

Along with these, audio recordings that Dileep had submitted along with his complaint that he was being blackmailed have also been sent for forensic analysis.
