Sabarimala: The forest department has warned pilgrims to Sabarimala of the presence of tigers near the shrine after pug marks of a tiger and two cubs were spotted near Urakkuzhi.
The forest officials chanced upon the pug marks on the narrow walkway that leads from Pandithavalam to Urakkuzhi. Pilgrims who want to take a dip at Urakkuzhi have been asked to be on alert.

The larger pug mark was 24 centimeter long and 14 centimeter wide. The three pug marks have been cast in plaster by a team led by Sannidhanam section forester Rajeev. The Periyar Tiger Reserve field director has been informed of the sighting.
A tigress had been spotted in a surveillance camera installed by the devaswom board near the Pandalam Raja mandapam at Pampa last month.
