Maoists say comrade Pinarayi Vijayan is their biggest enemy in south India Pinarayi Vijayan

New Delhi: The 'Communist', the official publication of CPI (Maoist) Western Ghat committee, has called Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan as their biggest threat in south India. Unleashing severe criticism against the senior communist leader, the publication said Pinarayi is the prime enemy of Maoists fighting in Tri-junction, the border point of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Pinarayi had intensified the Maoist hunt after he took over as the state's chief minister, an year ago.

"There had been an escalation in number of attacks on the Maoists. The CPM-led LDF government follows the exact policy of the central government. Without reservations, the CPM had hailed the police killing of Maoists in Nilambur last November," it said.

The publication alleged that the differences between CPM and BJP were just parliamentary gimmicks. "The reality is that both parties are following pro-imperialist, anti-people policies. CPM had welcomed Indira Gandhi's suppression of the Naxalbari revolution in 1967," it said.

High alert

Meanwhile, the Central Intelligence Bureau (IB) has informed the Kerala police that the Western Ghats committee has been reorganized after the death of Maoist leader Kuppu Devaraj in Nilambur.

With B.G. Krishnamurthy from Karnataka taking over the leadership, the extremists are planning armed assaults on police and government officials, the report said.

The IB has warned that the Maoists were likely to attack police stations and forest offices to avenge the killing of their activists in Nilambur.
