CK Janu slams BJP’s beef policy in Modi’s presence

New Delhi: Tribal leader and head of the Janadhipathya Rashtriya Sabha C.K. Janu raked up the beef issue at the NDA leadership meet held in New Delhi on Tuesday and slammed the BJP’s unbounded enthusiasm towards anti-beef campaigns.

Her tirade, in the presence of prime minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah, central ministers Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitely, Venkaiah Naidu, and Nitin Gadkari, came as a big shock to the saffron party leadership.

She said that the occasional references to controversial topics such as the beef issue by the BJP leadership had caused problems for NDA allies in Kerala. She said beef was a hot topic of discussion in the by-election to the Malappuram Lok Sabha seat.

“Instead of indulging in controversial issues, the government should strive to address issues confronted by Dalits, tribal communities and laborers. It should be ensured that government-sponsored welfare programs for tribal people and Dalits reached the beneficiaries,” she added.

Janu’s speech was translated to Hindi by Kerala Congress leader P. C. Thomas.

Thomas, who likened the NDA to the floral arrangement on the stage in his speech, received a huge round of applause from the leaders.

“The nation has reposed full faith in NDA and Narendra Modi’s able leadership has helped ramp up the alliance,” said Bharat Dharma Jana Sena Kerala president Thushar Vellappally.
