Some simple but vital winter skin care tips

The days are getting shorter and colder in the mornings. Winter is almost here. Skin dryness is one of the biggest issues this season brings with it. This week Onmanorama brings you simple home remedies to relive this dryness.

Carrots

Carrots

Carrot is rich in Vitamin A and good for nourishing the skin in winter. It suits all skin types.

Grate carrots and apply on the face for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash off with cold water.

Honey, rosewater and milk

Honey, rosewater and milk

Mix half a teaspoon honey, one teaspoon rose water and one teaspoon dried milk powder. Mix into a paste and apply on the face. Remove after 20 minutes with water. This mixture is ideal for people with normal to dry skin.

Mayonnaise/egg yolk

Egg white

Applying mayonnaise or egg yolk on the skin also helps to relieve dryness. This is an ideal mixture for people with extremely dry skin.

Note: If you are acne prone mix a banana, egg yolk and and a teaspoon full of olive oil and apply on your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wash with lukewarm water.

Aloevera

Aloe vera

If you have an aloe vera plant at home, the gel found in the inner portion of the leaves can be applied on the face to moisturize it. If you have sensitive skin make a smooth paste of aloe vera gel, cucumber juice and yogurt. Let it sit on your face for 15 minutes before rinsing with cold water.

Milk

Milk

Milk has anti inflammatory properties and can help get rid of dry skin. Soak a wash cloth in cold milk and put the cloth on your skin for five to seven minutes. Do this everyday. You can also add a few drops of rose water to four table spoons of milk and rub it all over your face and leave it on for 10 minutes. Wash with cold water.
