How would you rate the Left Democratic Front government’s work in the first year?
The LDF government could roll out alternative policies and a comprehensive development plan based on social justice. Evidently, the LDF could bring in an administration devoid of corruption, ineptitude and extravaganza.
The government could raise hopes in the minds of weaker sections of society, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, workers in the traditional sectors and employees of public sector enterprises.
A scheme to lessen the burden of students who have taken education loans is encouraging. The government proved its commitment to the weaker sections by increasing the social security pension amounts and paying them at the pensioners’ doorsteps.
There were actions that reassured endosulfan victims. Women’s safety was given preference in the maintenance of law and order.
The government announced new projects for infrastructure development and exuded confidence that it could raise the money to fund them.
The projects announced for the differently abled are examples of the government’s care to the unnoticed. The law that makes Malayalam a compulsory subject in schools is a proof of the government’s determination.
Has everything been set in order as was promised before the election?
We have started to set things in order in a year. This will be clearer to everyone in the final analysis when the projects reach their final stage.
