A matter that most will overlook due to the commotion around is the interest of bees in the season. The en masse flowering of kurinjis will attract bees to the area and stings would be a common nuisance.

According to Sebinster Francis, managing director of Route 49 adventures, who is also a seasoned trekker, these bees are lured by the fragrance of sweets. "It is better not to carry food and beverages that are sweet while taking a trip to the grasslands to see the kurinji bloom,” said Sebinster.
He also suggested avoiding perfumes that could attract the bees, which are otherwise contented with the peculiar honey of kurinji flowers. “If you get a sting, do not swat the bee. Killing one bee could attract attack from the entire colony,” he added.
If you are allergic to bee stings, it is better to avoid a trip, cautioned Sebinster.
The Wildlife Department would have a medical team set up at the Eravikulam National Park entrance, but assistance at the top station would be minimal. Keep a stock of bee repellents and anti-inflammatory medicines or some home remedies handy during your visit.
