Kochi: The minimum fare for a ride in the 13-km Kochi Metro, which was inaugurated earlier Saturday, will be Rs 10.
That is a ride from Kochi Metro's Palarivattom, from where prime minister Narendra Modi took a ride, to the next station, Changampuzha Park, situated 0.52 km away, would cost you Rs 10. That is cheaper than the minimum auto fare of Rs 20.
The maximum fare for a ride to Aluva, situated 13.07 km away, would cost you Rs 40, again much cheaper than an auto ride for covering 10 stations.

What’s the point of having a metro? This one is for the skeptics
The stations after Pathadipalam before Muttom are CUSAT and Kalamassery. After Muttom, Ambattukavu would have the same fare, but the fourth slab of Rs 40 takes effect from Companypady, the eighth stop which is 10.3 km away.
The slab remains Rs 40 till Aluva the final stop. Right from the initial stages of discussions on Kochi Metro, the authorities had aimed at keeping the fares below auto charges, which is now becoming a reality.
