The delegate pass issuance for the 21st International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) has been postponed to Wednesday, as Kerala has declared Tuesday a public holiday to mourn the demise of Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa.

The 68-year-old leader, who suffered a massive cardiac arrest, passed away at 11:30 pm Monday night, after battling for life for 75 days.

Festival passes for the delegates will be issued at Tagore theater premises in Thiruvananthapuram from December 7.

“Due to the sad demise of Ms Jayalalithaa, and the declaration of mourning in the state, 21st IFFK pass issuance is postponed to Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 10.00 am,” festival authorities informed the delegates.

This season's IFFK is set to begin on December 9 and as many as 185 films from 62 countries would be screened under various categories in the festival. The seven-day-long festival will conclude on December 16.

Veteran actor-director Amol Palekar will be the chief guest during the opening ceremony of the 21st edition of International Film Festival of Kerala, which will be inaugurated by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
